“Old Love, New Life” by Ruth Hays

Now in her 50s and since her husband’s passing, Jeanette takes her annual vacation from the hot and sunny sands of Arizona to the rough and tough farmlands of Missouri to visit with her family. A series of events puts Jeanette literally in the arms of her old high school sweetheart, Dan. While Jeanette refused Dan’s marriage proposal in high school, Dan was not going to let Jeanette leave town without her being his.

Very clear obstacles come into play while Jeanette thinks of her answer. She is a very independent woman who lives and works as an accountant in Arizona. There she has her children and grandchildren. He is a hard-headed man who lives and owns a coffee shop/mechanic business in Missouri. There he has just one son, but a booming business since they put in the new Interstate.  If they get married will she lose her independence? Will they fight all the time because he is hard-headed? Where will they live and spend the rest of their lives? What will Jeanette’s family think of her remarrying just 2 years after her husband’s death? Many challenges stand in the way but will the love they shared 30 years ago surpass any obstacles and let them love again?
