“the bride stripped bare” by Nikki Gemmell

This book starts with a letter to a publishing company from a woman whose daughter disappeared 12 months prior. Police concluded it was a suicide. However, others have different opinions. The daughter was in the middle of writing the following book anonymously. Her mother feels like finding a publisher is what her daughter would have wanted.

While on their honeymoon in Marrakech, she finds out that Cole has been seeing Theo behind her back. Cole says it is only for drinks but she does not believe him. It is as if she was doused in a cold shower and woken up from her married bliss. She believes it is a full-blown affair and feels more betrayed by Theo than her husband.

Back home in London, she does not believe Cole when he tells her he did not have sex with Theo. She feels that Cole has crippled her by enticing her to quit her job and spent all of her saving. She makes the decision to live less tentatively and more selfishly.
